Patagonia Fleeces

Patagonia is a renowned company that began because one man called Yvon Choulnard, fell in love with climbing and started to made and sell his own climbing tools. In 1965 Choulnard formed a partnership with an engineer called Tom Frost and together they redesigned many climbing tools. In the 1970s the partnership between Choulnard and Frost broke down, however Choulnard began to create and produce outdoor clothes for his climbing friends and created the Patagonia brand name. The name Patagonia is taken from the geographical region between Argentina and Chile.

Today Patagonia is a leading commercial and global distributor of climbing accessories and clothing. Patagonia was one of the first companies to field-test fleece jackets and has since remained a leading contributor in the fleece product market. Their fleece products can be purchased from many high street retailers and online stockists.

Jackets
Patagonia has a wide array of fleece jackets which are made from 100% polar fleece and are incredibly versatile for a range of outdoor pursuits. The fleece jackets that are supplied by Patagonia are designed to stretch with your movements and absorb perspiration without becoming too heavy, which will enable you to carry out active mountaineering ventures or trail hiking. Most of Patagonia’s fleece jackets have a jersey micro fibre face which allows for a non-binding layering system, this is how they are able to provide you with warm and ample movement.

Patagonia’s fleece jackets are available for men and women. They are available in dark earthy colours which range from dark red to white.

Sweatshirts
Patagonia produce hooded sweatshirts which can be worn as a fashion item or for light hiking. These sweatshirts are not suitable to be worn in the harsher climbing regions as they do not provide enough protection against the elements.

Vests
Patagonia also produces vests for men and women as an alternative to the full fleece jacket. The vests are also made from 100% polar fleece which will keep you warm whilst still being very lightweight. Vests can be worn as the sole outer layer for climbing expeditions or as part of a compact layering system.
